I am a teacher of engineering with nearly 10 years experience. I endeavour to produce a range of resources that will help students to really engage with engineering as a subject and later, a profession. My resources are always produced to make it as easy as possible for you to change, edit add and remove content, or you can simply use the resources as they are. My main focus is to give you all of the information you will need to teach a subject, with as little fuss as possible.

Level 1/2 Engineering materials activity

(0)
Engineering materials activity - Useful for having students complete for research and then to keep for revision purposes. Great for a cover session where the cover teacher might have IT use, students can complete a meaningful task that will be useful to them later in the course. Used with Level 1 and 2 BTEC Engineering students - only minimal teacher intervention required for students to show progress in engineering materials.
Health and Safety Definitions of Terms

Health and Safety Definitions of Terms

(0)
A revision resource showing the definitions of many terms in Health and Safety covered by BTEC and City and Guilds courses. I put them onto a PPT for ease of access but I wouldn't deliver the powerpoint to a class without significant changes. I also have these slides on our Moodle system for the students to use as a pure revision resource, and also as a source of information they can easily use when producing written work.

Casting and Forging Interactive Quiz

(0)
A Powerpoint quiz on the subject of Casting and Forging. Used with engineering, DT and some science (Chemistry) subjects. Can be easily modified to change the questions. Fairly foundation level questions. Please feel free to change and modify anything you wish in order to meet your needs.

A revision resource that explains how a wide range of oil pumps and lubrication systems work in engineering. Feel free to chop and change anything that you might need to suit your courses.
Turning Handout

Turning Handout

(0)
An old turning assessment activity designed to be used with the old NVQ courses. I still use this when introducing students to the lathe as it helps them to think about the functions and risks. Please cut and paste any of the information and drawings in the handout and use them as you feel best reflects your course.
Adhesives for use in Engineering and Automotive industries

Adhesives for use in Engineering and Automotive industries

(0)
Activity and Information sheet on the subject of Adhesives. There is a description and activities on all kinds of engineering adhesives to aid in teaching students of BTEC and City & Guilds in engineering (or pretty much any skilled trade where adhesives would play a part) Feel free to chop and change whatever you like to suit your own preferences.
Keys and Keyways - Mechanical Engineering

Keys and Keyways - Mechanical Engineering

(0)
A presentation and hand-out that describes the use of a range of keys, keyways, taper lock bushes and frictional turning devices. Used for students studying on BTEC and City & Guilds engineering courses, in 45 minute to 1 hour sessions, but could also be used for automotive, aerospace etc... Resources have been made to make it easy to customise. I removed all of my personal things from the slides and hand-out so changing the format of activities etc. is easy. Feel free to cut and paste anything you want from the resources.

Health and Safety - Electrocution

(0)
PPT that summarises the basics behind what to do in the event of electrocution in industry, primarily engineering. I use this throughout the BTEC and City & Guilds engineering courses that I teach at levels 2 and 3. Please feel free to cut, paste, chop and change any part of this resource you want to in order to meet your own needs.

Abrasive wheels information. Delivered some time ago, but information is still relevant under law and useful from a teaching standpoint. May need to be adjusted to suit your individual style of teaching and the area of engineering that you teach. Feel free to cut, paste and change whatever you wish in order to suit yourself.

Describes the main ways in which materials will corrode in the environment. Basic resource that gives information and no graphics, images or styles, the idea being that what is here should be developed into your own style. Feel free to use the information for any purpose.

Fracture in metals

(0)
Information slides that explain how modes of fracture can propagate through a material. Used for information only, I normally take the information from slides as and when I need it. I wouldn't use this to present to a class without putting your own spin on it. Please feel free to cut, paste and chop any part of the resources as you see fit.

Engineering Drawing introductory activities

(0)
Basic, low level activities designed to give students confidence in reading and producing their own drawings in engineering. Starter activity is for students to identify the correct views. Drawing activities are for the students to convert isometric to orthographic projection, using guide lines - (you may need to adjust the contrast of your printer before printing, I had a small issue but it was fixed with a bit of adjustment) Feel free to chop, change and paste whatever you like to suit your own style.
